Campaign Description

Not long ago, a rift that connects the mortal world to the hellish world of the Abyss opened up in the north of the planet Cessia. Since then, the demons have taken over a swath of human territory. The Empire stands in between the demons and the Grand Duchy of Hohenburg, and fiercely resists the demonic invasion. In Hohenburg, however, the grand duke died without appointing a successor, and a power vacuum looms over the Grand Duchy as the throne becomes vacant.

Prince Klaus von Hohenburg seems to have found himself a great amount of support from the nobility and the wealthy, simply for being the eldest heir. Princess Ursula von Hohenburg, however, controls a significant part of the Grand Duchy's military, while Prince Günther von Hohenburg, being head priest of the Great Church of Rüdenia, has the support of the church, and the nearby Archbishopric of Canter. Finally, Prince Karl von Hohenburg made news when he graduated as the top student at the Rüdenia School of Magic, and has since been devoting himself to the study of sorcery in his tower in the countryside. Most thought Karl has no interest in the throne, but after the death of the Grand Duke, Karl announced his return to the capital, and rumors say he was seen meeting with various nobles in Rüdenia.

The uncertainty about the future looms over the people's minds. The threat of the fracturing of the state, or even worse, a possible civil war, induced instability all over Hohenburg. So long as a successor isn't proclaimed, the people will continue to suffer. A peaceful way out - or one with minimal bloodshed - is what the people of Hohenburg desperately needs.

It is 1411 DF (dragonfall; years from human revolution that took down the primordial dragons).

The demonic invasion started a bit more than a year ago and it wiped out two Northern nations, while the Empire absorbs what little refugees that have managed to escape the demons.
